Overview The Ultrasound Tech (Sonographer) provides high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services across multiple clinical areas including OB/GYN, abdomen, pelvis, vascular, small parts, and ultrasound-assisted biopsy procedures. This role requires strong technical ability, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to patient care and safety.
Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ensure image quality. Review and verify patient clinical history for accurate imaging. Prepare and educate patients to ensure comfort and cooperation. Select and operate ultrasound equipment and transducers appropriately. Position patients to obtain optimal imaging results. Assist practitioners with interventional procedures, including verifying consents. Follow aseptic and universal precaution standards. Provide physical and emotional support to patients during procedures. Maintain accurate imaging records while protecting confidentiality. Monitor equipment functionality and report issues. Participate in quality improvement activities. Provide practical instruction to students or other healthcare staff as needed. Maintain required continuing education and professional competencies.
Requirements
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited sonography program or equivalent. Certification through ARDMS or an approved equivalent. Licensed as an Ultra sonographer or Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer (state-specific requirements apply).
